Something a little different in this week's issue. September 1st was my 20th anniversary working in the software industry, so I've put together a talk on my time working in the industry and what I've learned.
The software industry is constantly evolving, and it is crucial to adapt to it. While luck can play a role in your experiences, there are ways to increase your chances of being in the right place at the right time. Although not all situations may be favourable, it is ultimately up to you to decide how you respond to them.
In this video, I'll share my journey in the software industry, including how I discovered roles and my actions to secure them. I'll touch on the highs and lows I've experienced throughout my career and share the valuable lessons learned. Lastly, I will provide some insight into the evolution of testing over the years from my perspective and how I've evolved from starting as a Tester to being a Quality Engineer.
If you want to know more about anything I discuss in the video, then let me know in the comments, and I'm happy to talk more. I'm curious to know how well video works on Substack, too, so let me know if you would like more content like this. I've got plenty of talks over my career that I can share.
The next few months will be pretty busy for me - conference session - so I may be slow with posting. Bear with me while I get into the habit of posting more regularly.
